My favorite place to be with my family is in the kitchen! We bake, we create, we reinvent, through colors, flavors and textures…..and we make one hell of a mess! Whether it be a great success or a miserable brick of dough (that should be edible bread), it’s all out of fun and love.
On rainy days we bake! You can turn your cooking experiments into fun family traditions. Taco tuesdays are pretty simple to translate to gluten free meals. Try friday as a pizza night. Experiment with store bought frozen crust, mixes or try your hand at something more advanced like a cauliflower crust. You can even start very, very basic. I recommend Amy’s Organic Rice Crust Pizza. It’s gluten free, available dairy free, and you can just unwrap it and add your own toppings.
Being “limited” in one sense makes you branch out and explore exciting new foods that will inspire you to create fabulous dishes. It forces you to go back to the basics of food preparation. Doing so can create great teamwork amongst families. If one person in the family has a food allergy, the entire family has to know how to operate around the kitchen safely.
